New Delhi, March 22: The 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) sees the Rajasthan Royals (RR) entering with a new captain and coach. The team has also welcomed several new players. For the first time since 2018, the team will be without Sanju Samson. Despite these changes, the spotlight is on opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Vaibhav made his debut in IPL 2025, where he scored a century, becoming the youngest player (at just 14 years old) to achieve this milestone in the league’s history. Following the IPL, he continued to impress with his performance in the Under-19 World Cup and with the A team. Cricket fans are keen to see what he will accomplish in IPL 2026.
A video from an event related to the Rajasthan Royals has gone viral on social media. In this clip, Vaibhav’s witty response to a reporter’s question has garnered attention.
The reporter asked, “What is your goal for IPL 2026? How many runs do you aim to score, and do you want to win the Orange Cap?”
In response, Vaibhav humorously said, “If you ask such questions, I might say two or three thousand runs!” This remark elicited laughter from those present.
He further added, “I haven’t set any specific goals. I’m following the process and want to win the trophy for the team. We don’t have personal targets; we are just focused on performing better this season.”
In IPL 2025, Vaibhav played seven matches, scoring 252 runs at an average of 36. He gained attention for his explosive century against the Gujarat Titans (GT), where he scored 101 runs off just 38 balls, hitting 11 sixes and 7 fours. Thanks to his innings, RR successfully chased down a target of 210 runs in just 15.5 overs. The RR management and fans will be hoping for similar performances from Vaibhav this season.
