
Bengaluru, April 15: The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) faced a tough outing against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Wednesday, setting a target of just 147 runs. RCB aimed to secure a victory and climb to the top of the points table.
In a match held at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, LSG, after losing the toss, batted first but collapsed to 146 all out on the final ball of their innings. Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh provided a steady start, accumulating 32 runs in the first four overs.
Markram scored 12 runs off 8 balls before returning to the pavilion. Captain Rishabh Pant came in next but was injured on just his third delivery, forcing him to retire hurt. Meanwhile, Marsh managed to score 40 runs off 32 balls, including two sixes and three fours, before being dismissed.
By the time LSG reached a score of 118, they had lost five wickets. Pant returned to bat but fell victim to Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the very next over (16.5), managing only 1 run from 6 balls. In the 19th over, Bhuvi took two wickets, dismissing George Linde (7) and Mohammad Shami (0), narrowly missing out on a hat-trick.
For RCB, Ayush Badoni was the standout performer, scoring 38 runs off 24 balls with five boundaries. Mukul Chaudhary also contributed with a solid 39 runs off 28 balls, hitting two sixes and three fours. Rasikh Salam Dar was the star bowler for LSG, claiming four wickets for just 24 runs, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took three wickets. Krunal Pandya and Josh Hazlewood chipped in with two and one wicket, respectively.
Under the leadership of Rishabh Pant, the Lucknow Super Giants featured players like Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Abdul Samad, Mukul Chaudhary, Mohammad Shami, Avesh Khan, Digvijay Singh Rathi, and Prince Yadav.
On the other hand, RCB’s playing eleven included captain Rajat Patidar, along with Philip Salt, Devdutt Padikkal, Jitesh Sharma (wicketkeeper), Tim David, Romario Shepherd, Krunal Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood, Suyaash Sharma, and Rasikh Salam Dar.
