Bangladeshi Fast Bowler Rubel Hossain Announces Retirement from International Cricket

New Delhi, April 15: Bangladeshi fast bowler Rubel Hossain has announced his retirement from international cricket. The 36-year-old player shared this heartfelt decision on Facebook, reminiscing about his journey with the national team.

Rubel wrote on the social media platform, “Playing for the national team has always meant a lot to me, but there comes a time when one must step away from international cricket. Keeping this in mind, I have decided to bid farewell to international cricket.”

Although Rubel is leaving the global stage, he made it clear that he will remain involved in the sport. He intends to continue playing domestic cricket and expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his career.

He stated, “I plan to keep playing domestic cricket. I want to thank my family, friends, media personnel, and fans. I trust that you will continue to support me in the days to come.”

The fast bowler thanked his family, friends, media professionals, and fans, expressing hope that they would continue to back him in the next phase of his career. Rubel’s international career spanned over a decade, during which he became one of Bangladesh’s leading fast bowlers.

He leaves behind a strong record across all formats. The right-arm fast bowler took 36 wickets in 27 Test matches, while claiming 129 wickets in 104 One Day Internationals (ODIs). He also recorded 28 wickets in 28 T20 matches. His contributions, especially in shorter formats, have been crucial in developing Bangladesh into a competitive limited-overs team.

Known for his speed and ability to perform under pressure, Rubel played his last international series in 2021 against New Zealand. Even after his final international match, Rubel remained active in domestic cricket, recently playing for the Prime Bank Cricket Club in 2024.
