Dehradun, July 31: The Uttarakhand government has taken significant action regarding the suspicious death of government teacher Srishti Kandari. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has ordered the case to be handed over to the CBCID for a thorough investigation. This move aims to ensure a high-level and impartial inquiry into the matter.
Vinod Kandari, the MLA from the Devprayag assembly constituency, had previously written to the Chief Minister, demanding a detailed investigation. He emphasized the need for an unbiased examination of all facts related to the incident to deliver justice to the victim’s family and to take strict action against the guilty.
Reports indicate that Srishti Kandari, who was a government teacher and the wife of personal secretary Saurav Khatri stationed at the Dehradun Secretariat, died under suspicious circumstances on July 29. The couple had been married for only eight months. Following a complaint from the deceased’s mother, the police have registered a case against Saurav Khatri, his mother-in-law, and sister-in-law.
Allegations suggest that Srishti was subjected to harassment for dowry and was driven to suicide. Family members claim that she was often belittled and referred to as unlucky by her in-laws.
The situation escalated when a video of Srishti went viral on social media. In the video, she accused her in-laws of mental and physical abuse prior to her death. This revelation has sparked outrage among the public, who are demanding justice for the victim’s family.
The CBCID team will investigate every aspect of the case. The inquiry will include examining evidence of dowry demands, harassment, phone call recordings, witness statements, and the victim’s suicide video, along with other relevant documents. A fair investigation will be conducted based on scientific and technical evidence, and a report will be prepared. The full picture of the case will emerge only after the CBCID’s investigation report is released.
