New Delhi, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : The Derbyshire police have officially closed their investigation into England’s fast-bowling all-rounder Brydon Carse. As a result, no charges will be brought against him.
The inquiry revealed that the alleged victim did not wish to file a complaint, leading to the decision to halt any further action. In a statement released on Friday, police confirmed that the investigation into an incident reported in Derby city center has been concluded.
With the police investigation wrapped up, Carse now faces scrutiny from cricket’s regulatory body.
On August 23, a video surfaced on social media showing Carse in handcuffs. He was arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly after officers were called to Molly Malones in Derby’s Wardwick area. He was later released without charge.
At the time of the incident, Carse was playing domestic cricket for Durham and was part of the squad for the first two Tests against Pakistan. Following the incident, he was dropped from the England team and missed the Test series. The Derbyshire police had previously mentioned an investigation into the controversy surrounding Carse, which also led to his exclusion from the ODI and T20 series against Sri Lanka.
Last week, England’s white-ball coach Brendan McCullum emphasized the need for Carse to improve his behavior off the field. He advised Carse to address the issues stemming from the Derby incident and take the necessary time to reset.
Since the incident, Carse has been playing for Durham in the County Championship, although he did not participate in the recent match against Worcestershire.
