International Basic Science Conference Kicks Off in Beijing

Beijing, August 9: The 2026 International Basic Science Conference was inaugurated today in Beijing, China. The theme for this year’s event is “Focusing on Basic Science, Leading the Future of Humanity.” Over a thousand scientists, researchers, and young students from both China and abroad are participating in this significant gathering.

The conference will span two weeks and feature more than 500 academic sessions. These sessions will cover all branches of fundamental science and interdisciplinary directions, including cutting-edge topics such as generative large model reasoning, computer vision, human-computer interaction, and quantum information.

Many leading international scientists will present reports on fundamental science and cutting-edge scientific awards. They will share the latest achievements in their respective fields and promote multidisciplinary collaborative innovation.

In addition to fostering high-level academic exchanges, the conference aims to enhance the ecosystem for developing young scientific talent and plans to launch various specialized thematic activities.

This year marks the fourth time the conference is being held in Beijing, hosted by the Beijing Municipal Government, the Ministry of Science and Technology of China, the China Association for Science and Technology, and the World Federation of Chinese Mathematicians.
