Jaipur: A man in Jaipur’s Adarsh Nagar area has become a victim of blackmail after forming a friendship on Instagram. The woman involved allegedly promised a live-in relationship and initially extorted ₹2 lakh from him. Now, she is demanding ₹10 lakh, threatening his life if the money is not paid.

The 28-year-old man lodged a complaint at the Adarsh Nagar police station, stating that the woman, identified as Archana (name changed), contacted him on Instagram in 2024. As their conversation progressed, she proposed marriage and suggested living together. The man agreed, and she later took ₹2 lakh from him, citing personal needs.

When the man pressed for marriage, the woman retracted her earlier statements. According to the complaint, after the man attempted to communicate with her family, they began verbally abusing and threatening him. He alleged that the woman and her family threatened to trap him in a honeytrap and demanded ₹10 lakh to avoid imprisonment, warning that their men could even harm him.

Feeling threatened by the continuous harassment, the man reported the entire matter to the police. Authorities have initiated an investigation and are taking action against the woman and her associates.
