Insta360 Luna Ultra Leak Suggests New Modular Rival to DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4

Mumbai, April 23: DJI has long been the leader in the compact gimbal camera market. Its dominance has made the brand synonymous with this category. However, a recent leak hints that competition may be on the horizon, particularly from Insta360.

A teaser video circulating on social media showcases what appears to be the Insta360 Luna Ultra. While the source of the footage remains unclear, it aligns closely with previous leaks, making it difficult to dismiss.

The standout feature of the Luna Ultra is its modular design. Unlike the Osmo Pocket 4, which features a fixed body, the Luna Ultra consists of two separate components: a detachable gimbal head and a handle that doubles as a controller. This innovative setup allows users to mount the camera in tighter or more challenging spaces while maintaining control from a distance. Such flexibility could be a game-changer for creators working in unpredictable environments.

This development is not entirely unexpected. Insta360 previously showcased the Luna Ultra at NAB 2026, where it garnered significant attention. The lineup is anticipated to include two versions: the dual-camera Luna Ultra and the single-camera Luna Pro. Current projections suggest a launch in June 2026, with indications it may arrive even sooner.

In addition to the Luna Ultra, Insta360 is also preparing to unveil the Insta360 Mic Pro, signaling a broader strategy to create a more comprehensive ecosystem around its cameras.

While DJI’s Osmo Pocket 4 remains a polished product, this leak suggests that Insta360 may be approaching the market from a fresh perspective. This potential shift adds an intriguing dynamic to the compact camera landscape.
