IIT Madras Showcases Deep-Tech Innovations at India Innovates 2026 in France

New Delhi, June 9: The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) announced on Tuesday that it will showcase deep-tech innovations, strategic research projects, and its incubated startups at the international technology event ‘India Innovates 2026’ in France.

This event, organized by the French Ministry of Education from June 14 to 16, aims to identify and guide promising tech ventures emerging from India’s higher education institutions and centrally funded technical institutes, presenting them on a global stage.

According to IIT Madras, the event will provide Indian innovators with opportunities to connect with global stakeholders, including investors, policymakers, industry leaders, research institutions, and technology partners.

IIT Madras will lead two of the 13 theme-based areas at the event and will showcase 15 startups associated with the institute.

The pavilion will also feature five major research projects that demonstrate India’s potential in deep-tech innovation and indigenous technology development.

These projects include Hyperloop technology, lab-grown diamond technology, 5G and 6G communications, port automation, and indigenous AI ecosystems with low computing capabilities.

Professor V. Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, stated that the ‘India-France Year of Innovation 2026’ and the ‘India Innovates 2026’ event will create new collaboration opportunities between IIT Madras and universities, research laboratories, startups, and industries in France.

He added, “This event will open avenues for joint research in areas such as 6G technology, shared testbeds, standard development, startup partnerships, technology transfer, and talent exchange programs.”

IIT Madras will lead the Blue Economy and Next-Generation Communications theme areas at the event.

In the communications segment, startups like REIO Systems, Astrom Technologies, and Visig Networks will showcase their indigenous software-defined radio platforms, wireless backhaul systems, and open RAN-based 5G solutions.

In the Blue Economy segment, IIT Madras-associated startups Planis Technologies will present underwater inspection solutions based on remotely operated vehicles (ROVs), autonomous systems, and AI-based diagnostic technologies for marine and offshore infrastructure.

Additionally, a startup named ZeroCircle will showcase natural polymer-based products made from marine algae, considered a sustainable alternative to traditional plastic packaging.

Strategic technologies on display will also include IIT Madras’s Hyperloop research program. The Ministry of Railways has declared IIT Madras as a Center of Excellence for Hyperloop technology. The institute is collaborating with the TUTR Hyperloop startup to work on propulsion, levitation, and vacuum tube technologies.

Moreover, laser technologies developed by the Indian Centre for Lab Grown Diamonds will be showcased, which can embed invisible identification marks within diamonds, ensuring their authenticity and traceability.

IIT Madras will also demonstrate its indigenous 5G and 6G networks, smart port automation systems, and low-computing-capacity AI models developed through the IITM Innovator Technologies Foundation.

The institute asserts that this international platform will not only give Indian innovations global recognition but also provide new opportunities for international collaboration, technological partnerships, and startup development.
