New Delhi, 8 December (Daily Kiran) – Indigo, the country’s largest airline, has resumed operations of over 1,800 flights after facing an operational crisis that disrupted services for more than a week. On Monday, the airline cancelled 500 flights but has successfully restarted its network across the nation.
The airline has returned 4,500 out of 9,000 delayed baggage items to passengers, with the remaining bags expected to be delivered within the next 36 hours. So far, Indigo has refunded ₹827 crore to affected passengers.
Meanwhile, senior officials of Indigo have been summoned by a high-level committee formed by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for further inquiry.
In an official statement, Indigo claimed significant improvement in its network following recent difficulties. The airline is now fully prepared to operate more than 1,800 flights, reconnecting all operational stations. It reported an enhanced on-time performance (OTP) of 91 percent across its network, achieved by optimising operations and reducing the number of advance cancellations.
Indigo also stated that processes related to flight cancellations, refunds, baggage delivery, and rebooking have been accelerated. Passengers stranded between 1 and 7 December were provided with hotel accommodation, cab services, and baggage assistance.
The airline expects to return to normal operations within the next 24 to 36 hours by working efficiently. Indigo’s spokesperson advised passengers to check the latest flight status at https://www.goindigo.in/check-flight-status.html and to seek refund assistance via https://www.goindigo.in/refund.html or customer support.
The spokesperson expressed regret for the disruption, apologising sincerely to all customers. They reaffirmed that Indigo’s operations fully comply with FDTL rules and safety regulations, as has been the case for over two decades. Indigo will continue to cooperate closely with authorities to normalise operations and thanked passengers for their patience, along with the dedication of its employees and partners during this challenging period.
