Indigenous Weapons Showcase Strength During Operation Sindoor, Says Sanjay Seth

New Delhi, May 5: During Operation Sindoor, Indian defense forces successfully dismantled terrorist hideouts and thwarted the nefarious plans of the nation’s adversaries. This was highlighted by Minister of State for Defense Sanjay Seth on Tuesday.

He emphasized that India’s military strength is developed in factories linked to the country’s defense industries. Seth credited the unique courage and determination of the defense forces for the success of Operation Sindoor. He noted that the impressive, state-of-the-art weapons and systems developed indigenously have further fortified this strength.

Speaking at the North Tech Symposium organized by the army, he described micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as the backbone of the Indian economy and startups as the nation’s brand ambassadors.

“Our startups and MSMEs are the driving force behind future development and will play a crucial role in realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047. They are the Vishwakarmas of our era,” Seth stated. He highlighted the effective use of domestically produced equipment as evidence of achieving self-reliance in the defense sector.

He stressed that record defense production and export figures are proof of the rise of a new India, which is committed to strengthening its capabilities to protect national interests.

“This new India does not harbor ill intentions towards anyone and will not turn a blind eye to threats against its sovereignty,” he added. Seth pointed out that the technology in use today may become obsolete tomorrow. He urged the industry to think outside the box and stay at the forefront of technological advancement.

He also mentioned government initiatives aimed at strengthening the country’s defense framework. Innovation, he said, is a continuous process, and the government assures full support in this regard.

Seth discussed the transformative impact of the Defense Industrial Corridor in Uttar Pradesh and called on the industry to elevate development to new heights. Present at the event was Lieutenant General Anindya Sengupta, the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command, who urged the industry to contribute to preparing the Indian Army as a future-ready force by collaborating with the defense forces.

He noted that self-reliance would lead to strategic autonomy, technological sovereignty, and operational readiness. It is noteworthy that the North Tech Symposium 2026 was organized by the Indian Army’s Northern and Central Commands along with SIDM, inaugurated by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on May 4. Private sector defense manufacturers are showcasing defense technology at this event, featuring stalls that display cutting-edge defense technology, including unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), drones, counter-UAVs (all-terrain vehicles), surveillance equipment, and other defense products.
