Indian Women’s A Team Secures Victory Over Australia A in First ODI

Mohali, September 20 (Daily Kiran) : The Indian women’s A team triumphed over Australia A by four wickets in the first match of their unofficial ODI series, held at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali on September 20, 2026. This win gives India a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Prior to this ODI, Australia had swept the preceding three-match T20 series 3-0. They won the first T20 by six wickets, followed by a 30-run victory in the second match. The final T20 saw Australia clinch a narrow seven-run win.

Batting first after losing the toss, Australia managed to score only 235 runs in 46.3 overs. The opening pair of Rachel Trenaman and captain Tahlia Wilson provided a solid start, putting together an 81-run partnership for the first wicket. Trenaman scored 36 runs, while Wilson contributed 48 runs, hitting eight boundaries.

However, after reaching 87 runs, Australia lost both openers. Charlie Knott (39) and Katie Mack (23) formed a brief partnership, adding 62 runs for the third wicket, but once that partnership was broken, the Australian innings collapsed. They lost six wickets for just 87 runs, crumbling to 174.

In the end, Tes Flintoff (22) and Sienna Ginger (15) managed to add some runs, helping Australia reach 235. Vaishnavi Sharma and Niki Prasad each took three wickets for India, while Amandeep Kaur claimed two.

In response, the Indian women’s A team chased down the target in 41.1 overs. They stumbled early, losing three wickets for just 46 runs. However, Tejal Hasbnis and Anushka Sharma steadied the innings with a remarkable 126-run partnership for the fourth wicket, bringing India to 172 runs.

Anushka scored 55 runs off 61 balls, hitting seven boundaries. Following her dismissal, Niki Prasad partnered with Tejal for 23 runs, and Saiyali Satghare added 40 runs with Tejal, guiding India to a comfortable victory. Tejal finished with 81 runs from 82 balls, including six sixes and five fours, while Niki remained not out on 32 runs. Flintoff and Frankie Nicklin each took two wickets for Australia.
