New Delhi, May 21: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Thursday that Indian Railways is extensively utilizing modern technologies such as AI, drones, and CCTV to enhance the security of trains, passengers, station premises, and its vast rail network.
During a high-level security review meeting held in the national capital, he stated that efforts are being made in mission mode to strengthen the intelligence-gathering capabilities of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at the beat level.
The Ministry of Railways conducted a detailed discussion with field officials from across the country in the presence of senior officials in New Delhi.
The primary focus of the meeting was to improve coordination by enhancing the information-sharing system between the RPF and the Government Railway Police for more effective security management across the railway network.

The meeting also emphasized the need to strengthen the intelligence system and process information quickly. Additionally, it aims to encourage railway passengers to actively cooperate in preventing anti-social activities while traveling and waiting in station premises.
The ministry urged passengers to remain vigilant and alert during their journeys. They were advised to report any suspicious activities or individuals immediately to the railway helpline number 139.
The meeting also focused on enhancing technology-based security measures, increasing CCTV coverage across the entire railway network, and improving operational safety coordination between the railway board headquarters and field zones.
