Hanoi, August 27: Indian Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margerita, met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Le Minh Hung on Thursday. The Minister expressed gratitude for the cooperation received from the Prime Minister in enhancing mutual collaboration and converting high-level commitments into tangible outcomes.
During the meeting, Margerita conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and referenced the successful visit of Vietnamese President ‘To Lam’ to India. This visit has elevated the relationship between the two nations to the level of an “Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”
Margerita shared on social media, “I feel honored to meet Prime Minister Le Minh Hung. I conveyed greetings from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. We discussed the successful state visit of General Secretary and President ‘To Lam’ to India and how to transform high-level commitments into concrete results.”
In May, during a meeting with President ‘To Lam’ in New Delhi, Prime Minister Modi announced that the relationship between India and Vietnam had been upgraded to the level of an “Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”
Addressing a joint press conference after talks at Hyderabad House in New Delhi with the Vietnamese President, PM Modi described Vietnam as a “key pillar” of India’s “Act East Policy” and “Vision Ocean.”
President ‘To Lam’ praised India’s progress, calling it “a center of development and innovation in the world,” and emphasized the importance of the bilateral relationship between India and Vietnam.
To further advance the “Enhanced Comprehensive Strategic Partnership,” Margerita arrived in Hanoi on Tuesday. On Wednesday, she engaged with alumni of the Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation Program (ITEC) and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
The Minister noted on social media, “It was heartening to see that India’s development partnership and capacity-building initiatives are bringing about significant changes on the ground through the participation of numerous Vietnamese officials and scholars. We look forward to welcoming more Vietnamese students to India for education.”
She also met with representatives from Vietnam’s textile industry to discuss opportunities for deepening cooperation in the textile and apparel value chain.
Margerita paid tribute at the memorial of Vietnam’s founder and former President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi. She wrote on the social media platform, “I paid my respects at President Ho Chi Minh’s memorial in Hanoi. I honor his enduring contributions and the deep civilizational ties between India and Vietnam that his leadership has strengthened.”
