
New Delhi, August 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address young athletes virtually during the ‘Khelo India Dialogue‘ program on Thursday. This event presents a unique opportunity for athletes across the nation. Sports enthusiasts have praised the initiative.
Daljinder Singh, coach of the Special Olympics India team and former World Cup hockey player, expressed gratitude, stating, “First, I want to thank Prime Minister Modi and Dr. Mallika Nadda, the chairperson of Special Olympics India, for their unwavering support. I also extend my thanks to the entire Special Olympics Bharat (SOB) organization for their excellent arrangements and camps for these children, which enabled us to participate in the FIH World Cup.”
He added, “Our performance in the World Cup was commendable. There were 16 teams divided into two pools of eight. We were in Pool B and currently hold the 11th rank in the world.”
Daljinder emphasized that the chance to speak with the Prime Minister is significant for the players, motivating them to perform even better.
Senior player Ishan Pratap Singh from the Indian Para Hockey team remarked, “The Prime Minister understands that we all aspire to lead a moral life. We aim to achieve success while playing hockey with integrity.”
Coach Rajeshwari noted, “Prime Minister Modi is promoting sports. The government is providing all necessary resources for the athletes. Para-athletes are receiving substantial support as well. Our participation in the Para World Cup was significantly aided by the government.”
During the ‘Khelo India Dialogue – A Conversation on Sports with Prime Minister Modi,’ the Prime Minister will address young athletes and leaders across the nation. This event, held on National Sports Day 2026, will be conducted virtually in over 1,500 educational institutions.
This large-scale youth engagement program will bring together emerging athletes, students, policymakers, and renowned players, creating a platform for sharing ideas to strengthen India’s sporting ecosystem and enhance opportunities for the youth of the country.
