Indian Government Reduces Excise Duty on Fuel Amid Middle East Conflict

New Delhi, March 27: Amid ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Indian government has announced a reduction in excise duty on petrol and diesel. BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi praised this decision, stating that the government acts with caution, vigilance, and sensitivity.

During a media interaction in New Delhi, Trivedi highlighted the alarming global situation due to the Middle East war. He noted significant price hikes in energy and petroleum products worldwide, with South Asia and Southeast Asia experiencing increases of 30% to 50%. In the United States, the rise is between 20% and 30%, while Europe sees a 20% increase, and African nations face hikes of up to 50%.

Trivedi emphasized that in this era of globalization, it is impossible for India to remain unaffected. However, under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the government has made this decision with utmost care and sensitivity to avoid burdening the common people. As a result, two key measures have been implemented: an increase in taxes on petroleum exports and a reduction in excise duty. This decision reflects the government’s commitment to the welfare of its citizens.

The BJP MP asserted that the government is working systematically and sensitively to safeguard the interests of the Indian populace during these challenging times. He also noted that today marks Ram Navami, suggesting that PM Modi draws inspiration from the ideals of Lord Ram, as depicted in Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas.

In response to opposition queries, Trivedi reminded them that they are not just in opposition but also govern several states. The Congress party is currently in power in Karnataka, Telangana, and Himachal Pradesh. Therefore, he urged them to collaborate as Team India during this difficult period.
