New Delhi, March 20: The archery couple Swati and Rajat Chauhan from Rajasthan have been selected to represent India at the Asia Cup archery competition. This event will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from March 21 to 28.

Swati Dudhwal and Rajat Chauhan were chosen through trials conducted at the Eastern Center of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) in Kolkata. They are set to become the first couple from Rajasthan to represent the country in an international competition. Swati is currently employed at the state secretariat in Jaipur, while Rajat serves as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in the Rajasthan Police.

Both compound archers, Swati and Rajat are Arjuna Award winners and have earned multiple medals for the nation. The couple tied the knot in December 2025 during a traditional ceremony in Jaipur, which was celebrated by several prominent figures in the archery community, including Olympians Deepika Kumari, Atanu Das, Tarundeep Rai, and champions Rahul Banerjee, Jayant Talukdar, Ojas Devtale, Aditi Swami, Prathamesh Phuge, and Prathamesh Jawkar.

In addition, Yogendra Singh from Rajasthan has been appointed as the coach for the Indian team at the Asia Cup archery championship. He stated that the Archery Association of India has selected a very strong team to represent the country. This team underwent intensive training from February 25 to March 5 at the Army Archery Center in Pune and is currently participating in a training camp in Kolkata from March 6 to 20.

The Indian team will depart from Kolkata to Bangkok, with high hopes for exceptional performances, particularly in the compound category, where India has previously secured numerous World Cup and World Championship medals.

Rajat Chauhan has previously won several international medals for the country, including a silver medal at the Asian Games, an individual silver medal at the World Championships, and two gold, two silver, and three bronze medals at the World Cup level. In 2025, he, along with Aman Saini and Abhishek Verma, won both matches at the Archery World Cup, leading the men’s team compound event to victory over France with a score of 232-230. In February 2025, at the 38th National Games, Rajat showcased remarkable skill, winning the men’s individual event. Swati has also excelled, winning a gold medal at the World Archery University Championship and a bronze medal at both the World Archery Youth Championship and the Asian Grand Prix Circuit. In May 2025, she secured a bronze medal in the senior category at the ‘Khelo India Women’s National Ranking Archery Tournament’ held in Bhopal.
