India vs Sri Lanka: Top Wicketkeepers with the Most Dismissals

New Delhi, August 10: The two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka is set to begin on August 15. In a warm-up match, the Indian team showcased an impressive performance, defeating the Sri Lanka Cricket XI by six wickets. Here are the five wicketkeepers who have recorded the most dismissals in the India-Sri Lanka Test series.

Amal Silva holds the record for the most dismissals as a wicketkeeper in Test matches between India and Sri Lanka. He achieved a total of 22 dismissals against India, which includes 21 catches and one stumping.

Niroshan Dickwella has also made his mark, recording 22 dismissals against India in just eight Test matches. His tally includes 16 catches and six stumpings, sending Indian batsmen back to the pavilion.

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni may not have had extensive success as a Test captain, but his wicketkeeping skills were exceptional. In nine Test matches against Sri Lanka, Dhoni registered 22 dismissals, with 21 catches and one stumping. He also scored 491 runs at an average of 49 in those matches. Former Indian wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha matched this feat with 22 dismissals in eight Tests against Sri Lanka.

Nayan Mongia contributed significantly as well, achieving 18 dismissals in the India-Sri Lanka Test series. His record includes 19 catches and three stumpings. Sri Lanka’s Prasanna Jayawardene also recorded 18 dismissals, with 14 catches and four stumpings.

Former Sri Lankan captain Kumar Sangakkara managed 14 dismissals against India, comprising 13 catches and one stumping. His career is filled with achievements across all formats of the game.

Sadanand Vishwanath, another former Sri Lankan wicketkeeper, recorded 11 dismissals against India. Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More also achieved 11 dismissals, including ten catches and one stumping.

Romesh Kaluwitharana added to the tally with nine dismissals in the India-Sri Lanka Test series, consisting of seven catches and two stumpings over four Test matches.
