Nagpur, May 31: The Indian team continues to shine in the Under-18 Women’s Asian Cup. After defeating Malaysia in their opening match, India secured a remarkable 3-1 victory against Korea in their second Pool A match.
Naushin Naz, Shruti Kumari, and Kiran Ekka scored for India in this encounter. The match started on a high note for the Indian team. They earned a penalty stroke early in the first quarter, which Naushin converted, giving India a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game.
India maintained control of the ball and doubled their lead in the second quarter. In the 21st minute, Shruti scored a brilliant goal, allowing India to head into halftime with a comfortable 2-0 advantage. After the break, Korea attempted a comeback, narrowing the score to 2-1 when Gyeongmin Ryu scored in the 41st minute.
However, India quickly regained their two-goal cushion. Player of the Match Kiran Ekka successfully converted a penalty corner in the 43rd minute, extending India’s lead to 3-1 and putting the match firmly in their control. The Indian team remained disciplined in the final quarter, denying Korea any further scoring opportunities. Throughout the match, India earned four penalty corners and one penalty stroke, while Korea secured two penalty corners.
With victories over Malaysia and Korea, India now sits at the top of Pool A standings with six points. The team will face Singapore in their final group stage match on June 2, aiming to continue their winning streak for a third consecutive game.
