India to be Represented by Rajnath Singh at SCO Meeting in Tajikistan

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will represent India at the SCO meeting in Dushanbe, focusing on multilateral cooperation among member states.

Dushanbe, October 18 (Daily Kiran) : The capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, is set to host a significant meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Defense Minister Rajnath Singh will represent India during this gathering, which marks the 25th meeting of the SCO Heads of State Council. Singh will be in Dushanbe on October 19 and 20 for the discussions.

The Ministry of Defense has stated that the meeting aims to enhance multilateral cooperation among member countries and review the progress of ongoing initiatives across various sectors. The focus will be on increasing collaboration in areas ranging from trade to innovation. Last year’s meeting took place in Moscow.

Discussions at this crucial gathering will center on strengthening trade, economy, investment, connectivity, innovation, and cultural cooperation among SCO member states. Additionally, decisions regarding the organization’s financial and institutional operations will be considered. This meeting presents India with an opportunity to share insights on regional cooperation issues with other SCO members. The main goal is to advance practical measures that benefit all member countries.

India has been actively participating in various SCO mechanisms. Through this organization, India has contributed to initiatives aimed at enhancing startups, innovation, digital public infrastructure, and interpersonal connectivity. The upcoming meeting is expected to explore further avenues for collaboration in these areas.

As an important member of this international platform, India continues to engage meaningfully with the SCO. Last year, India was represented by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar at the previous meeting held in Moscow on November 18, 2025. This time, with Rajnath Singh’s participation, India will discuss various cooperative issues with member countries in Dushanbe.
