Mumbai, September 12 (Daily Kiran) : BJP MLA Ram Kadam addressed several pressing issues during a recent discussion, including the stance on terrorism at the BRICS summit, the Maratha reservation movement, and various cultural debates surrounding the Navratri festival.
Kadam described the BRICS summit as a pivotal moment for India, emphasizing the need for global unity against terrorism. He stated that the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam underscored the urgency of this issue, which India has now raised on an international platform. “India’s policy on terrorism is clear; we cannot tolerate cross-border terrorism in the future,” he asserted.
He also commented on the opposition’s criticism of the summit, particularly targeting the Congress party. Kadam argued that questioning the significance of a gathering that includes various world leaders is inappropriate. While he acknowledged the opposition’s right to critique the BJP, he insisted that political disagreements should not undermine important international events.
Kadam referenced former Union Minister P. Chidambaram, suggesting that someone with experience in finance and home affairs should recognize the importance of such international gatherings.
On the Maratha reservation issue, Kadam accused Congress and Sharad Pawar of opposing the movement. He affirmed the current government’s commitment to supporting the Maratha community while stressing that any decision must align with constitutional and legal standards. “The decision should be democratic and uphold judicial scrutiny,” he stated.
Additionally, he urged that the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations should not disrupt other communities or festivals, reaffirming the government’s support for the Maratha community.
Responding to Raj Thackeray’s comments about Home Minister Amit Shah’s Hindi, Kadam suggested that political leaders should focus on their own party’s status rather than criticize others. He highlighted the BJP’s actions against Naxalism and the establishment of governments in various states as evidence of effective leadership.
Regarding dietary choices during Navratri, Kadam remarked that individuals should be free to make personal decisions about their food without unnecessary controversy. He emphasized that those who observe religious practices during festivals should be respected in their choices.
Finally, he addressed the World Hindu Council’s demand concerning entry to Garba events, clarifying that Garba should not be viewed merely as entertainment. He stressed that the traditional dance is rooted in devotion and should be inclusive of all who respect the divine.
