
New Delhi, May 17: Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, announced on Sunday that India’s partnership with the Netherlands in clean energy will aid the country in becoming a global green hydrogen hub.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, he stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Netherlands will accelerate the India-Netherlands partnership. This collaboration will enhance clean energy innovation, boost investment, create new economic opportunities, and support India’s emergence as a global green hydrogen center. The partnership further strengthens India’s commitment to sustainable development, energy security, and a clean future.
The minister also shared details about agreements made during the Prime Minister’s visit. According to a poster shared by him, India and the Netherlands have decided to establish a Renewable Energy Joint Working Group. This initiative will facilitate access to technology, expertise, and finance for expanding clean energy in India, creating more opportunities for Indian industries, researchers, and workers in green energy.
Another agreement focuses on developing a roadmap for green hydrogen, which will create a significant market for the export of Indian green hydrogen to Europe. Additionally, it will attract investments and technology for storage and port infrastructure, further solidifying India’s position as a global green hydrogen hub.
A third agreement is set to be established between the NITI Aayog and the Netherlands on energy sector and energy transition projects. This will strengthen the partnership between the two countries and enhance energy security.
India aims to develop 500 gigawatts of green energy capacity by 2030. Currently, the country’s green energy capacity exceeds 250 gigawatts.
