New Delhi, August 9: On the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, the Delhi BJP organized cleanliness drives at various memorials dedicated to freedom fighters and martyrs. This initiative took place during the week-long celebrations leading up to Independence Day. Senior leaders, including MP Bansuri Swaraj, paid homage to figures like Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya and other freedom fighters by laying floral tributes.
MP Bansuri Swaraj led a cleanliness campaign at Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya Park in Malviya Nagar, where she honored Malviya’s statue with flowers. Addressing party workers from the Malviya Nagar assembly, she stated, “In this 80th year of freedom, we are cleaning the memorials of our martyrs and paying them tribute. These heroes sacrificed their lives so that we could attain freedom. Today reminds us that the nation comes first.”
She urged the public to commit to building a developed India, saying, “Let us pledge to create a developed India that fulfills the dreams of our martyrs. We honor their sacrifices with the utmost respect.”
Accompanying her were Delhi BJP District President Ravindra Chaudhary, Councillor Leena Kumar, District Secretary Satyendra Kumar, and other leaders.
In Greater Kailash, MLA Shikha Roy gathered party workers at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose memorial in CR Park, where she administered an oath to regularly conduct cleanliness drives. She expressed her honor in serving at the memorial on the occasion of August 9, the day of the Quit India Movement.
In Khajuri Chowk, MLA Ajay Mahawar led a cleanliness drive at the Shaheed Mahesh Chand Sharma memorial, alongside Delhi BJP Vice President Ranjit Kashyap and local workers. Afterward, he paid tribute to the martyr’s statue, stating, “Visiting the memorials of martyrs during Independence Day week fills us with pride.”
He added, “By cleaning the memorials of those who sacrificed for the nation, we fulfill our duty to them.”
At the Shaheed Major Asharam Tyagi memorial in Maujpur Chowk, Delhi BJP Vice President Vinod Bacheti, MLA Jitendra Mahajan, and local workers participated in a cleanliness drive. Following this, all leaders paid homage to Major Tyagi’s statue. MLA Jitendra Mahajan remarked, “Remembering our martyrs and serving their memorials is the duty of every patriotic Indian.”
Similarly, at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk in Najafgarh, Delhi BJP Vice President Rajesh Bhatia and Kisan Morcha President Devendra Solanki conducted a cleanliness drive, later paying tribute to Bhagat Singh’s statue.
