Mumbai, October 23 (Daily Kiran)Team India stormed into the semifinals of the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 after a commanding 53-run victory (DLS method) over New Zealand in a rain-affected match at the DY Patil Stadium, Mumbai, on Thursday.

Batting first, India posted an imposing 340/3 in 49 overs, powered by a brilliant opening partnership between Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal. Mandhana dazzled with a stroke-filled 109 off 95 balls, smashing 10 fours and 4 sixes, while Rawal anchored the innings with a superb 122 off 134 balls, hitting 13 boundaries and 2 sixes. The duo’s 212-run opening stand laid a solid foundation for India’s big total.

Chasing a revised target of 325 runs in 44 overs, New Zealand managed 271 runs, falling short despite fighting knocks from Brooke Halliday (81) and Isabelle Gaze (65 not out).

For India, Renuka Singh and Kranti Gaud picked up two wickets each, while Sneh Rana, Shree Charani, Deepti Sharma, and Pratika Rawal claimed one wicket apiece.

The win not only sealed India’s place in the semifinals but also showcased the team’s growing dominance in world cricket. The explosive performances by Mandhana and Rawal lit up the evening, thrilling fans and reaffirming India’s strong claim for the coveted World Cup title.
