New Delhi, March 15: Tensions continue to escalate in West Asia, particularly between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Reports indicate that Pakistan has been launching attacks in civilian areas of Afghanistan. In response to this ongoing conflict, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has issued a strong statement.
During a press briefing, spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes in Afghanistan, which resulted in numerous civilian casualties and significant damage to infrastructure. He stated, “India denounces the airstrikes by Pakistan in Afghan territory, which have led to the deaths of many innocent people and the destruction of civilian infrastructure. This is yet another assault by the Pakistani government, which opposes the idea of a free Afghanistan. India reiterates the need to fully respect Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”
On Friday, Afghanistan’s National Defense Ministry reported that it had conducted airstrikes on Pakistani military centers and installations in the Kohat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. These strikes were a direct response to air attacks carried out by Pakistan the previous night.
According to a statement from Kabul, the targets included a military fort in Kohat and a war command center near the Durand Line. The Afghan National Defense Ministry announced on the social media platform X, “In retaliation to the nighttime incursions by the Pakistani military regime, the Afghan Air Force launched attacks on strategic military centers and installations of the Pakistani army in the Kohat area on Friday morning.”
In another post, the ministry detailed, “During these attacks, the military fort in Kohat was targeted, as well as the war command center near the Durand Line, located approximately two kilometers from the fort, including the commander’s office.”
The statement indicated that these strikes resulted in the destruction of military establishments, command centers, warehouses, and residential areas for soldiers, causing substantial damage.
Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid reported that Pakistan has initiated new military offensives in several Afghan provinces, including Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, and Paktika, leading to casualties among women and children.
Mujahid stated on X, “Like previous assaults and crimes, the Pakistani military regime has once again bombarded Kabul, Kandahar, Paktia, Paktika, and other areas. In some locations, they targeted civilian homes, resulting in the deaths of women and children, while in others, they struck desert and uninhabited areas.”
He condemned these attacks, emphasizing, “This unjust assault, occurring during the last ten days of the holy month of Ramadan and on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr, clearly indicates their disregard for humanity and moral values. The Islamic Emirate strongly condemns this attack.”
