India Clinches Series with 9-Wicket Win over South Africa in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam, December 6 – India secured a commanding 9-wicket victory against South Africa in the third ODI at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, clinching the series 2-1.

Batting first after losing the toss, South Africa was restricted to 270 runs in 47.5 overs.

The visitors suffered an early blow when Ryan Rickelton was dismissed for a duck on the fifth ball. Quinton de Kock and captain Temba Bavuma then steadied the innings with a 113-run partnership for the second wicket before Bavuma was out for 48.

De Kock added 54 runs for the third wicket with Matthew Breetzke, who contributed 24 runs. Additionally, Dewald Brevis scored 29 runs.

India’s bowlers were led by Prasidh Krishna and Kuldeep Yadav, who took four wickets each. Arshdeep Singh and Ravindra Jadeja claimed one wicket apiece.

In reply, India chased down the target in 39.5 overs, powered by an excellent opening stand from Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal. The pair put on 155 runs for the first wicket in 25.5 overs. Rohit scored 75 runs off 73 balls, including three sixes and seven fours.

Captain Virat Kohli then joined Yashasvi Jaiswal to guide India to victory with an unbeaten 116-run partnership for the second wicket over 84 balls. Jaiswal scored his maiden ODI century, remaining not out on 116 off 121 balls with two sixes and twelve fours. Kohli contributed an unbeaten 65 runs from 45 balls, hitting three sixes and six fours.

South Africa’s sole wicket in the Indian innings was taken by Keshav Maharaj.
