Galle, June 27: The first match of the unofficial Test series between India-A and Sri Lanka-A is heading towards a draw. By the end of the third day, the Indian team scored 48 runs without losing any wickets in their second innings, holding a lead of 170 runs over the hosts.
Winning the toss, India opted to bat first and declared their innings at 452/6. Sai Sudharsan and Ayush Pandey formed a solid opening partnership, adding 82 runs for the first wicket. Ayush was dismissed for 25 runs, after which Sudharsan took charge.
Sai Sudharsan played a remarkable innings, scoring 132 runs off 175 balls, including 19 boundaries. Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten at 141 runs, hitting 14 fours, while Sheikh Rasheed contributed 63 runs. For Sri Lanka, Chamika Gunasekara was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets, while Dilum Sudira took 2.
In response, the Sri Lankan team struggled in their first innings, managing only 330 runs. They lost two wickets for just 38 runs before Ashin Bandara and Nuwanidu Fernando stabilized the innings with a 105-run partnership for the third wicket.
Fernando scored 84 runs with 9 boundaries before being dismissed. Bandara then partnered with captain Sahan Arachchige, adding 117 runs for the fourth wicket. Bandara scored 70 runs with 10 fours, while Arachchige contributed 72 runs.
For India, Aaqib Nabi Dar was the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 wickets, while Yash Thakur and Harsh Dubey each claimed 2 wickets. Anshul Kamboj and Saransh Jain took 1 wicket each.
India had a lead of 122 runs after the first innings. By the end of the third day, they had scored 48 runs without losing any wickets in their second innings. Sai Sudharsan retired hurt with 7 runs, leaving Ayush Pandey (not out 20) and Devdutt Padikkal (not out 20) to continue. On the final day, the Indian team will look to test their batting as the match moves towards a draw.
