Mumbai, June 10: Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali’s upcoming movie, “Main Wapas Aaoonga,” is currently generating buzz. The film aims to confront a significant historical pain. Recently, the makers released another song titled “Kya Kamaal Hai,” which will be featured at the end of the film. This song is dedicated to those who have been forced to leave their homes for various reasons.
Imtiaz Ali shared a poignant story about an individual who had to abandon his home. The person expressed, “If I had to choose between leaving my home and facing death, I would gladly choose death.” Imtiaz emphasized that this statement reflects the profound sorrow of being away from one’s home, loved ones, and roots.
He stated, “Even today, many people around the world are compelled to leave their homes. Some flee due to war, while others escape hatred and violence. When a person leaves their home, they don’t just leave a place; they leave behind memories, childhood, relationships, and their identity. This pain is what we aim to convey through this song.”
Discussing his collaboration with singer Diljit Dosanjh, Imtiaz said, “It has been a very special experience for me. This song and film are created for those who have faced significant grief and challenges in their lives. Music and stories resonate with people, helping them understand each other’s pain.”
Imtiaz Ali noted that the film’s narrative is linked to the partition of India, during which millions were forced to leave their homes and cities. Many families were separated, and countless lives were irrevocably changed. “This is not just a historical event; it embodies the pain of millions that cannot be forgotten,” he added.
The director remarked, “Times have changed, but such troubles persist. In many countries, people are still leaving their homes due to war and conflict. For these individuals, ‘Kya Kamaal Hai’ brings a message of hope. The song conveys that no matter how great the challenges, one can still move forward and start anew.”
The song features the voice of renowned singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh, with music composed by the famous A.R. Rahman. The lyrics are penned by Irshad Kamil.
