Hindustan Zinc CEO Arun Misra, along with the senior leadership team, accompanied Dhawan during the visit. Sindesar Khurd is the world’s fourth-largest silver-producing mine, showcasing India’s progress in responsible mining and sustainability practices.

During the tour, Dhawan closely observed the company’s world-class operations, highlighting its integration of technological innovation, environmental stewardship, and ESG leadership. The discussions focused on strengthening global collaboration, sharing best practices, and advancing responsible mining across South Asia.

Expressing his views, Dhawan said:
“I am delighted to see how Hindustan Zinc has combined modern technology with ESG leadership in its operations in Rajasthan. The path to a greener future runs through India, where metals and minerals are playing a crucial role in the global energy transition. On the ground here, I witnessed a deep commitment to sustainability, environmental care, and social responsibility, which is truly inspiring.”

Hindustan Zinc is rapidly advancing its Sustainability 2.0 agenda, built on science-based targets and a firm commitment to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050 or earlier. In FY25, the company reduced its GHG emissions intensity by 15% compared to the 2020 baseline, while continuing to grow production.

In 2024, Hindustan Zinc was recognised for the second consecutive year as the world’s most sustainable metals and mining company in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment. It also became the first Indian metals and mining company with an SBTi-validated 1.5°C-aligned target.

These achievements underline Hindustan Zinc’s balanced approach to sustainable growth, prioritising environmental responsibility, technological innovation, and long-term value creation for stakeholders.
