Munich, September 9 (Kiran News) — Hyundai has unveiled its first dedicated electric hatchback, the Concept Three, at the IAA Mobility 2025 in Munich. The car is expected to enter production in 2026 under the company’s IONIQ portfolio.
While the final name has not been confirmed, the production model could be positioned as the IONIQ 2 or IONIQ 4. Hyundai’s current IONIQ lineup includes the IONIQ 5, 5 N Line, 6 sedan, 5 N, and 9 SUVs.

Exterior Design
The Concept Three showcases Hyundai’s new “Art of Steel” design language, characterised by smooth surfaces and curved panels. Design features such as coach doors, lemon-tinted windows, oversized wheels, and a large diffuser are unlikely to carry over to production, but the overall proportions and styling are expected to remain close to the final version.
Key details:
-
Length: 4287mm (just 1mm shorter than the Volkswagen Golf).
-
Parametric Pixel lighting signature on headlights and taillights.
-
Front bumper design in line with the rest of the IONIQ range.
Interior Features
Inside, the Concept Three embraces a minimalistic and futuristic cabin focused on reducing distractions. Highlights include:
-
Physical HVAC controls, avoiding an over-reliance on touchscreens.
-
No large central infotainment display; instead, two small digital screens are mounted behind an octagonal steering wheel.
-
Ambient lighting integrated into the dashboard and doors.
-
A long central partition separating the front seats.
Expected Specifications
While official technical details are yet to be announced, industry speculation suggests:
-
Battery options: 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh packs.
-
Likely built on Hyundai’s 400V E-GMP platform.
-
Comparable to the Kia EV3, which offers up to 600 km range (WLTP), suggesting similar figures for the Concept Three.
Market Positioning
With its compact size, premium design, and competitive range, the Hyundai Concept Three is expected to rival popular models such as the Volkswagen ID.3 and the upcoming Renault 5 EV, further strengthening Hyundai’s position in the global EV market.
