Dehradun, October 16 (Daily Kiran): In a significant step towards improving healthcare accessibility in rural areas, Hindustan Zinc has launched Mobile Health Vans under its CSR initiative in partnership with the MAMTA Health Institute for Mother and Child. The project will provide primary healthcare services to 25 villages across the Gadarpur and Kichha blocks of Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand.

The initiative was flagged off by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami from his residence in Dehradun. Commending Hindustan Zinc’s efforts in community healthcare, the Chief Minister said that the mobile health services would greatly benefit people in remote regions and urged them to make full use of this facility. He also extended his best wishes to everyone involved in the initiative.
On this occasion, Anamika Jha, SBU Head of Hindustan Zinc’s Pantnagar unit, and Murari Chandra, Deputy Director of MAMTA Health Institute, briefed the Chief Minister about the project and its objectives.
The mobile health van is designed to bring essential healthcare directly to rural communities, offering medical consultations, health check-ups, and basic treatments. The program aims to bridge the healthcare gap in remote areas and ensure that essential medical services reach those who need them most, while also promoting health awareness at the grassroots level.
Highlighting the company’s commitment to rural health, Anamika Jha said the launch marked a milestone in Hindustan Zinc’s sustained efforts toward strengthening community healthcare facilities. She added that Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) are already operating across 135 villages—including 25 in Uttarakhand’s Udham Singh Nagar district and four districts of Rajasthan. Each unit is staffed with a doctor, nurse, counsellor, driver, and coordinator to deliver doorstep medical services.
Currently, over two lakh people in Uttarakhand and Rajasthan are benefiting from various welfare initiatives supported by Hindustan Zinc. The program is being implemented with technical support from Chief Medical Officer Dr. K.K. Agarwal and under the guidance of District Magistrate Nitin Bhadauria.
The event was attended by DM Nitin Bhadauria, SP Manikant Mishra, SDM Pankaj Upadhyay, Sub-Divisional Officer Manish Bisht, and other dignitaries.
The launch of the mobile health van marks a major step towards accessible and inclusive healthcare for rural communities, ensuring timely medical support for both seasonal and common illnesses. Since 2018, Hindustan Zinc has remained dedicated to advancing rural health through multiple community-focused initiatives.
