Hindu Leaders Support Ekta Kapoors Claims of Hinduphobia in Bollywood

Hindu leaders rally behind Ekta Kapoors remarks on Hinduphobia in Bollywood, criticizing negative portrayals of Hinduism in films.

Ayodhya, October 16 (Daily Kiran) : Several prominent Hindu leaders have expressed their support for producer Ekta Kapoor’s recent comments regarding “Hinduphobia” in Bollywood. This response has emerged from various religious figures across India, including those from Ayodhya, Ujjain, and Varanasi.

The leaders argue that Hindi films often portray other religions positively while depicting Hinduism, temples, and religious symbols in a negative light. Some have even called for government action on this issue.

Mahant Dr. Deveshacharya Ji Maharaj from Hanumangarhi described Kapoor’s statement as a reflection of the country’s misfortune. He emphasized that a significant portion of the Indian audience identifies with Sanatan Dharma. Despite this, he noted that Hindu deities are often shown negatively in films, while opponents of Hinduism receive a more favorable portrayal. He praised Kapoor for her courage in addressing the issue, stating, “We stand with Ekta Kapoor.”

Mahant Sitaram Das Ji Maharaj of Ayodhya echoed these sentiments, asserting that while other religions are depicted beautifully, Sanatan Dharma is frequently shown in a negative light. He criticized filmmakers for misrepresenting religious themes, which he believes harms religious sentiments and discourages open expressions of faith.

Support for Kapoor also came from Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das Ji Maharaj, who pointed out the contrasting representations of mosques and Hindu rituals in films. He claimed that some individuals in the film industry are spreading hatred against Hinduism and expressed his solidarity with Kapoor, stating, “The truth will eventually come to light.”

In Ujjain, Mahamandaleshwar Shaileshanand Giri Maharaj supported Kapoor’s remarks, highlighting the frequent misunderstandings surrounding Hinduism globally. He emphasized that Sanatan culture encompasses more than just religious traditions; it is a comprehensive spiritual philosophy that sees divinity in every aspect of the universe.

Jagatguru Shri Balak Devacharya Ji Maharaj from Varanasi also backed Kapoor’s claims, accusing Bollywood of misrepresenting Hinduism and Sanatan Dharma. He noted that under Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Yogi’s administrations, there has been a shift towards more positive portrayals of religion in films.

In Ayodhya, Acharya Vitthal Ji Maharaj of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi remarked that Kapoor raised a valid concern about how Hinduism is portrayed in cinema. He noted that many films associate negative characters with Hinduism, fostering a harmful image. He believes that there should be resistance against attempts to belittle Hinduism in films.

Ekta Kapoor recently addressed the issue of Hinduphobia during a podcast with Ranveer Allahbadia. She questioned why the film industry readily embraces foreign fantasies and animated stories but struggles with Indian folklore and mythology. Kapoor argued that stories rooted in Indian culture and faith deserve a place in cinema and should be accepted by audiences.

During the discussion, she shared her experience of being labeled as “tantrik” for openly expressing her beliefs. She questioned why openly displaying one’s faith, such as wearing a tilak or tying a sacred thread, has become a source of ridicule.
