Himachal Pradesh Local Body Elections: CM Sukhu Calls It a Chance to Shape the Citys Future

Shimla, May 17: Voting is underway for 51 urban local bodies, including four municipal corporations, in Himachal Pradesh. Chief Minister Sukhu has urged citizens to participate, stating that these elections present a significant opportunity to shape the future of their cities, towns, and wards. He encouraged everyone to engage actively in this democratic process.

Polling began at 7 AM, with approximately 360,859 eligible voters casting their votes for 1,147 candidates. The four municipal corporations involved in today’s voting are Solan, Mandi, Dharamshala, and Palampur.

In a post on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Sukhu expressed, “Dear residents of Himachal, these local body elections are a major opportunity to shape the future of your city, town, and ward. I sincerely urge all voters to participate actively and make sure to vote.”

He further added, “Your vote will determine the direction of essential services in your city. It will strengthen the pace of development at the local level and promote public service and honest politics. I humbly request you to support Congress candidates. Choose representatives who stand by you in both good and bad times, so they can be the voice of your ward and town, bringing development to every doorstep. Let’s work together to ensure the victory of Congress candidates and build a strong local government for our city, town, and ward.”

Meanwhile, Rajeev Bindal, the President of the Himachal Pradesh BJP, cast his vote in Ward No. 5 of the Nahan Municipal Council with his family. He urged the public to exercise their voting rights for the formation of the municipal council in Nahan.

In a post on X, Rajeev Bindal stated, “I urge everyone to cast their valuable votes for BJP-supported candidates to usher in a new era of development in Nahan. After a year, the BJP government will be formed in Himachal, and only the BJP will work for development and public interest in Nahan, as the Congress government has only imposed lockdowns in the past three and a half years.”
