Himachal Pradesh Implements Dress Code and Social Media Guidelines for Government Employees

Shimla, March 18: The Himachal Pradesh government has introduced strict guidelines for government employees regarding dress code and social media usage.

According to an order issued by the Personnel Department, all employees are now required to wear modest, clean, and formal attire at the workplace. The government believes this initiative will promote discipline and a professional environment.

Under the new regulations, male employees must wear collared shirts paired with pants or trousers. Additionally, wearing shoes or sandals is advised. For female employees, acceptable attire includes sarees, formal suits, salwar-kameez, churidar-kurta-dupatta, or trousers with shirts.

The government has explicitly banned jeans and T-shirts in the office. Furthermore, employees are instructed to maintain personal hygiene and grooming standards to ensure a dignified and organized workplace.

Alongside the dress code, the government has also enforced strict rules regarding social media usage. The order states that no government employee may comment on government policies through personal social media accounts without prior permission. Any employee sharing posts or statements that could harm the government’s image or invite criticism may face disciplinary action.

The government asserts that these regulations aim to instill a sense of responsibility among employees and strengthen administrative systems. Additionally, they seek to ensure that government operations are not adversely affected. With the implementation of these new directives, employees must exercise caution in their behavior, attire, and social media activities.
