New Delhi, August 18: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhu participated virtually in the third meeting of the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT) held in New Delhi on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister informed her about the government’s efforts to accelerate industrial development in Himachal Pradesh and attract large-scale investments by developing world-class industrial infrastructure.
Sukhu stated that under the first phase of the Bharat Industrial Development Scheme (BHAVYA), the government has already submitted two proposals to NICDIT for the development of ready-to-invest industrial parks. These parks will feature modern plug-and-play infrastructure. Proposed projects include an industrial park spread over 75 acres in Beetan village of Una district, with a cost of ₹80 crore, and another industrial park covering 150 acres in the medium industrial area of Nalagarh in Solan district, costing ₹154.39 crore.
The Chief Minister emphasized that these projects are crucial for industrial development, job creation, and regional economic growth in the state. He urged the Union Finance Minister to approve both proposals promptly so that implementation can begin as soon as possible.
He also stressed the need to strengthen logistics and transportation infrastructure to promote industrial expansion in Himachal Pradesh. He requested the central government to improve rail connectivity in the state and advocated for the extension of the Baddi-Nalagarh railway line. Better rail connectivity would reduce logistics costs, enhance access to markets for industries, increase the competitiveness of manufacturing units, and further encourage private investment in the state.
The Chief Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to developing a robust industrial ecosystem through modern infrastructure and investor-friendly policies.
The National Industrial Corridor Development Program aims to establish a network of industrial corridors that will serve as engines of economic growth, promote industrialization, and create employment opportunities across the country. This program focuses on developing world-class infrastructure, attracting investments, and promoting sustainable industrial development.
