High Voter Turnout in Himachal Pradesh Panchayat Elections

Shimla, May 30: Voters in Himachal Pradesh have shown remarkable enthusiasm in the third and final phase of the Panchayati Raj elections. Long queues were observed at polling stations from early morning.

According to the State Election Commission, a voter turnout of 63.58% was recorded by 1 PM. The final voting percentage will be announced after the polls close.

Voting is taking place across 1,189 Panchayats in the state, with a total of 1,540,324 voters eligible to cast their ballots. This includes 776,802 men, 763,517 women, and 5 other voters.

Residents across various districts displayed significant excitement about the voting process. Women, youth, and the elderly turned out in large numbers at polling stations, with many seen waiting in line for their turn.

To ensure a peaceful voting process, the administration and police have made extensive security arrangements. After voting concludes, counting for the positions of Panchayat Pradhan, Up-Pradhan, and ward members will begin. The counting for Block Development Council (BDC) and District Council members will take place on May 31.

With the third phase of voting, the Panchayati Raj election process in the state will be completed. All eyes are now on the final voting statistics and election results. Previously, voting for 1,293 Gram Panchayats took place on May 26, followed by the second phase on May 28.

Central Minister JP Nadda also exercised his voting rights on Saturday. In a conversation with the media, he emphasized the importance of participating in elections for strengthening democracy. He urged everyone to make use of their voting rights to enhance democratic participation.

Chief Minister Sukhu also appealed to voters to cast their votes, stating that every vote contributes to village development, better facilities, and a robust Panchayati Raj system. Elected representatives serve as the voice of the people and drive progress.
