Hyderabad, June 23: Heavy rainfall has led to significant flooding in several low-lying areas of Aminpur and Beeramguda, located near Hyderabad. In some neighborhoods of Aminpur, part of the Sangareddy district, rainwater has entered homes, submerging vehicles parked in apartment complexes.
Residents of Durga Province Colony faced a challenging night as floodwaters invaded their homes, damaging household items. Water filled the basements of apartment buildings, causing cars and elevators to become submerged.
Approximately 30 families in the colony have been affected by the flooding. Residents have reported that no officials arrived to assist them, prompting some to use pumps to remove water from their buildings.
The heavy rain, accompanied by strong winds, has impacted western and southern Hyderabad, leading to water accumulation on roads and in low-lying areas. Areas such as Chandanagar, Miyapur, Serilingampally, Kondapur, Rajendra Nagar, Shamshabad, Bandlaguda, and Chandrayangutta have also been affected.
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society, Chandanagar in the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation area recorded the highest rainfall at 12.8 centimeters. Aminpur received 12.15 centimeters, while Serilingampally recorded 11.98 centimeters.
Moderate to heavy rainfall has been reported in several regions of Rajendra Nagar, Ramachandrapuram, Serilingampally, Aminpur, and Patancheru. The heavy rain has also disrupted power supply in the affected areas.
Continuous rainfall throughout the night has resulted in severe flooding near the Ramdev Baba Temple in the Shivramapally Jagir area of Rajendra Nagar.
Police have advised travelers heading from Nehru Zoological Park to Aramgarh to use the Dr. Manmohan Singh flyover.
Teams from the Disaster Response Force and the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Property Protection Agency are actively working to pump out water from flooded areas and restore normalcy.
Meanwhile, Hyderabad Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar praised the police officers on duty in adverse weather conditions. He noted that traffic police and other departments are consistently addressing the flooding issue and conducting relief operations. He urged the public to follow official traffic advisories to reach their destinations safely during the rain.
The India Meteorological Department has forecasted the possibility of heavy rainfall in certain areas of Jagtyal, Rajanna Sircilla, Medak, and Kamareddy districts in Telangana. The department also indicated that thunderstorms, lightning, and winds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour are expected across various locations in the state.
