Mumbai, August 1: The Mumbai Regional Meteorological Centre (IMD) has issued orange and yellow alerts for various districts in Maharashtra due to the forecast of thunderstorms, lightning, and heavy rainfall over the next five days. The state disaster management department has urged residents to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions and to follow local administration guidelines.
According to the weather department, an orange alert has been issued for Pune, Satara, and Kolhapur’s ghats on August 1, anticipating heavy rainfall. A yellow alert has been issued for Nandurbar, Nashik’s ghat region, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Buldhana, Akola, Washim, Amravati, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gondia, and Gadchiroli districts.
On August 2, thunderstorms with rain are expected in Raigad, Pune’s ghat region, Satara’s ghat region, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Akola, Washim, Amravati, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli districts.
The yellow alert will continue on August 3 for Ratnagiri, Satara’s ghat region, Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, and Nagpur districts.
On August 4, thunderstorms and lightning with rain are predicted for Buldhana, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli districts.
A yellow alert will also be in effect on August 5 for Buldhana, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli districts.
The state disaster management department has advised citizens to seek shelter in safe locations during thunderstorms and heavy rainfall, avoid unnecessary exposure in open areas, and adhere to the guidelines issued by local authorities and the disaster management department.
