China Celebrates 99th Anniversary of Peoples Liberation Army with Grand Ceremony

Beijing, August 1: The Chinese Ministry of National Defense hosted a grand ceremony on July 31 to celebrate the 99th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) at the Great Hall of the People. National Defense Minister Dong Jun attended the event and delivered a speech.

The ceremony commenced around 5:30 PM with the national anthem of the People’s Liberation Army.

In his address, Dong Jun highlighted that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party and the 90th anniversary of the Long March victory. He emphasized that this year is crucial for achieving the PLA’s centenary goals. Reflecting on the past while looking forward, the PLA is determined to heed the guidance of the Chinese Communist Party and follow its leadership.

The People’s Liberation Army adheres to Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, strengthening the political construction of the military. It ensures that the direction of the party’s flag aligns with that of the military’s. Under Xi Jinping’s leadership, the PLA aims to unite more closely around the Party Central Committee, advance the modernization of national defense and armed forces with high quality, and accelerate the building of advanced combat capabilities. The PLA will act as a solid guardian for the reunification of the motherland, resolutely thwarting any separatist plots for “Taiwan independence” and foreign military interventions, fulfilling its sacred mission to protect national sovereignty, security, and development interests.

The Chinese military is prepared to join forces with like-minded powers to collectively oppose actions that threaten international and regional peace and stability, and to address global security challenges. Through concrete actions, it aims to fulfill its responsibilities as a major power’s military.
