Ranchi, 22 August (Kiran News): The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in the northwestern districts of Jharkhand—Palamu, Garhwa, Latehar, and Chatra—on 23 August.
An orange alert has been issued in view of this warning.

According to the department, good rainfall is expected at various places in the state over the next five days. People have been advised to take precautions due to the possibility of heavy rain, and residents of low-lying areas are especially urged to remain alert. Meteorologist Abhishek Anand said on Friday that strong winds of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour and lightning are also likely to accompany the heavy rain. He warned that waterlogging in low-lying areas could occur, mud houses or structures with sheet roofs could collapse, and wet soil from continuous rain could cause trees to fall, leading to accidents. People are advised to stay cautious.
It is noteworthy that continuous rainfall over the past two to three days has affected normal life in Ranchi and several other areas of the state.
In the last 24 hours, Saraikela Kharsawan received the highest rainfall in the state at 67.2 millimetres. During this period, the capital Ranchi recorded 12.2 millimetres of rainfall.
On Friday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29.8°C in Ranchi, 30.8°C in Jamshedpur, 33.6°C in Daltonganj, 32.1°C in Bokaro, and 32.8°C in Chaibasa.
