Chandigarh, June 22: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Sunday that the government is taking significant steps to modernize the healthcare infrastructure. The aim is to provide advanced facilities and services in government hospitals that are comparable to those in private hospitals.
He emphasized that substantial improvements are being made in medical infrastructure, diagnostic capabilities, and patient care services to ensure quality healthcare for every citizen.
The Chief Minister stated that the government is dedicated to enhancing public health service structures on a large scale, ensuring that quality healthcare is available to all citizens in government hospitals.
He highlighted that making Haryana’s public health system more efficient, accessible, and patient-centered is a top priority for the government. Continuous efforts are underway to strengthen health facilities across the state and improve service delivery.
This announcement was made during a review meeting at the Civil Secretariat, where the Chief Minister discussed the state’s healthcare infrastructure, the modernization of government hospitals, and the establishment of medical colleges.
Present at the meeting were Health Minister Aarti Singh Rao, Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Sumita Mishra, Additional Chief Secretary A.K. Singh, Director of the National Health Mission R.S. Dhillon, and other senior officials.
While reviewing the ongoing renovation and upgrading works in government hospitals across the state, the Chief Minister stated that civil hospitals in all districts should be upgraded to be more convenient and citizen-friendly compared to private hospitals.
He also reviewed the renovation work in hospitals located in Ambala, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Faridabad, Hisar, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Palwal, Panchkula, Rewari, Sonipat, and Nuh districts, issuing necessary directives to the officials.
The Chief Minister noted that the increasing number of facilities in government hospitals has led to a significant rise in beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat scheme, who are opting for treatment in these institutions.
In the fiscal year 2024-25, the government paid claims amounting to ₹26 crores for the treatment of 8.83% of beneficiaries under the scheme. However, in 2025-26, 32% of beneficiaries received treatment in government hospitals, leading to claims payment of ₹126 crores.
