BJP Set to Win Kolkata Municipal Elections, Claims Minister Dilip Ghosh
West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh predicts a decisive BJP victory in upcoming municipal elections, echoing earlier assembly results.

Kolkata, October 24 (Daily Kiran) : West Bengal’s Panchayat and Rural Development Minister, Dilip Ghosh, expressed confidence on Saturday that the upcoming municipal elections in Kolkata and Howrah will mirror the “one-sided” results of the state assembly elections held earlier this year.
Ghosh asserted that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has lost its relevance and that the Left Front will not make a comeback. He anticipates that the BJP will secure a significant majority in the two municipal elections, expected to take place in late November or early December.
The minister stated that the election outcomes will reflect the assembly results, claiming that the TMC has only engaged in “looting” and that the public will not grant them another chance. He emphasized that the electorate in the state makes informed decisions, rendering grandiose statements meaningless.
Ghosh also criticized the Left Front, labeling them as “disillusioned and irrelevant” in West Bengal’s political landscape. Responding to recent vandalism of book stalls set up by the Left during Durga Puja, he questioned the relevance of their literature, suggesting that only disheartened individuals read their outdated works.
He remarked that the Left’s representation has dwindled to one seat, down from zero in the 2021 assembly elections, indicating that their time has long passed. The public had already rejected them 15 years ago, he noted.
According to Ghosh, the people of West Bengal desire clean politics, which he believes only the BJP can provide.
Regarding the 20 MPs who recently left the TMC to join the NDA, Ghosh commented that they seem uncertain about their direction, hopping from one position to another, as the party they originated from lacks a coherent ideology and is no longer viable.
In light of the recent stampede at the Chorabagan Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal that resulted in 19 fatalities, Ghosh assured that the state government is actively investigating the incident, with the Chief Minister personally overseeing the matter.
