Gujarat Wins First Prize for Republic Day Tableau Again

Gandhinagar: On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day celebrations, Gujarat’s tableau won first prize in the ‘Popular Choice’ category for the fourth consecutive year during the parade held at Kartavya Path in New Delhi.

The trophy and award were presented on Friday at a ceremony held at the National Stadium in New Delhi. The honour was handed over by Union Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, to Dr. Vikrant Pandey and Kishor Bachani, who accepted the award on behalf of the Gujarat government.

The Chief Minister’s office of Gujarat shared on X that the state’s tableau made history by winning the ‘Popular Choice Award’ for the fourth year in a row at the national Republic Day parade. The prestigious award was given to the state’s Information Department in the presence of the Defence Minister of State.

Additionally, Gujarat’s dance troupe received a consolation prize in the cultural dance competition held among artists from various states during the tableau creation process at the National Stadium.

This year’s tableau, based on the theme ‘Mantra of Freedom: Vande Mataram,’ was created by the Gujarat Government’s Information Commissioner’s Office. The project was guided by Information Commissioner Kishor Bachani and directed by Additional Information Director Arvind Patel, with joint efforts from Joint Information Director Dr. Sanjay Kachot and Deputy Information Director Bhavna Vasava of the Film Production Branch.

In previous years, Gujarat’s tableaux have also been recognised for their themes. In 2023, the ‘Clean Green Energy Gujarat’ tableau won the Popular Choice award. In 2024, the ‘Dhorado: World’s Best Tourism Village’ tableau secured first place in the Popular Choice category and second place in the Jury’s Choice category.
