Gujarat Tops Popular Choice Category in Republic Day Parade Awards

New Delhi witnessed a grand celebration as artists and tableau participants of the 77th Republic Day parade were honoured with awards on Friday. Gujarat secured the first position in the Popular Choice category for the fourth consecutive time, bringing immense joy and enthusiasm among the artists.

Aastha Joshi from Gujarat expressed her happiness, saying, “Our group has won the tableau award for the fourth time. This fills us with great pride.” Surbhi Yadav added that the victory celebration made them feel very proud. Prachi from Sundaram Cultural Group in Gujarat remarked, “Winning the award for the fourth time has made history for us. No other state has won consecutively four times. We are delighted and our hard work has paid off.”

Following the impressive parade at Kartavya Path in New Delhi, awards were distributed in various categories for the best tableaus and marching contingents. In the Judges’ Choice category for state tableaus, Maharashtra claimed first place, Jammu and Kashmir second, and Kerala third. Among ministries, the Culture Ministry’s tableau was chosen as the best.

In the Popular Choice category, Gujarat led, followed by Uttar Pradesh in second place and Rajasthan in third. The Education Ministry’s tableau was awarded first place among ministries. In the services category, the Indian Navy received the Judges’ Choice award while the Assam Rifles won the Popular Choice award as the best marching contingent. The Delhi Police and CRPF were honoured in the CAPF category under Judges’ Choice and Popular Choice respectively.

Sanjay Seth highlighted the significance of the Republic Day festivities, stating, “The sacred occasion concluded successfully with tableaus, cultural programmes, and the singing of ‘Vande Mataram’ at Kartavya Path. The resolve of Prime Minister Modi’s ‘Developed India’ vision was also reflected during the parade. Recognising the artists brought forth a special sentiment. The entire nation of 1.4 billion eagerly awaits this parade, and the diverse performances by these artists epitomise the spirit of ‘One IndiaBest India’.”
