
Mumbai, May 9: In a significant operation against illegal arms, the Gujarat Police acted on precise intelligence provided by the Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and arrested a suspect on Saturday. The accused has been identified as Krishna Kumar Agarwal, 46, son of Ramratan Agarwal, and a resident of Goregaon East in Mumbai.
Authorities recovered a “Made in USA” shotgun, a local firearm, and 35 cartridges from the suspect. Reports indicate that Agarwal was transporting these weapons in an MG Hector vehicle.
According to Additional Director General of Police (Anti-Terrorism Squad, Narcotics Task Force, and Gangster Task Force) Dinesh MN, the intelligence was received on Friday under the supervision of Inspector General Rajesh Singh and Deputy Inspector General Yogesh Yadav. A team led by Superintendent of Police Gyan Chand Yadav was formed to act on the information regarding illegal weapons being transported in a vehicle with registration number MH-47-AU-0117.
The intelligence was initially received by Assistant Sub-Inspector Kulveer Singh and Head Constable Suresh Kumar. Based on this information, the Rajasthan ATS analyzed CCTV footage and other data to track the vehicle’s movement. The investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling from Jaipur towards Palanpur in Gujarat. Subsequently, the Rajasthan ATS shared this information with the Gujarat ATS, leading to the interception of the MG Hector by the Banaskantha police in Gujarat.
During the search, officials seized a “Made in USA” shotgun, a local gun, and 35 cartridges. Krishna Kumar Agarwal, the vehicle’s owner and driver, has been arrested on charges of possessing and transporting illegal weapons.
The Rajasthan ATS has urged the public to report any information related to the transportation, sale, purchase, or possession of illegal weapons to their helpline at 0141-2610949. The identities of informants will be kept confidential, and they will be rewarded appropriately.
