Gujarat Government Transfers 72 IAS Officers in Major Administrative Reshuffle

Ahmedabad, May 13: The Gujarat government executed a significant administrative reshuffle late Tuesday night, transferring 72 IAS officers and announcing new appointments.

According to a notification released by the General Administration Department on May 13, this extensive administrative change impacts district administration, municipal corporations, urban development bodies, and various state government departments. New collectors have been appointed in several key districts, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Bharuch, Navsari, Morbi, Dahod, Junagadh, and Kutch. Senior officials in Gandhinagar and major urban bodies have also been assigned new responsibilities.

This reshuffle is viewed as a crucial step towards making the administrative system more effective and accountable. The notification states that D.N. Modi has been removed from the position of Municipal Commissioner of Jamnagar and appointed as the Development Commissioner in Gandhinagar. With this appointment, the additional charge held by K.L. Bachani has been terminated.

Meanwhile, Anand Baboolal Patel has been transferred from the position of Collector of Kutch-Bhuj to become the School Commissioner. He has also been given additional responsibilities as the Commissioner of the PM-POSHAN Scheme (Mid-Day Meal) and Director of the Gujarat Council of Education Research and Training, a role previously held by Rachit Raj.

Sujit Kumar, the Collector of Ahmedabad, has been transferred and appointed as the Special Commissioner in the State Tax Department. This position was previously managed by P. Bharti. Similarly, Ajay Prakash has been moved from the Director of the Gujarat Energy Development Agency to the Energy and Petrochemicals Department, where he will be appointed as the Managing Director of the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited in Vadodara.

Dr. Saurabh Pardhi, the Collector of Surat, has been appointed as the Director of Civil Supplies in Gandhinagar and will also serve as the ex-officio Additional Secretary in the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, succeeding Mayur Mehta. Earlier in March, the state government had also transferred 37 IPS officers and appointed Ashok Kumar Yadav as the new IB Chief.
