Gujarat Government Increases Tractor Subsidies After Talks with Farmers

Gandhinagar, March 31: The Gujarat government has announced an increase in tractor subsidies following discussions with farmer organizations. Agriculture Minister Jitu Vaghani shared this news on Monday, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to supporting farmers. He reassured them that there is no need for concern.

After a meeting with the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh and the Kisan Morcha, Vaghani revealed that the Chief Minister has approved increased subsidies for sprinkler and drip irrigation systems. These systems are designed to help farmers conserve water and achieve better yields with less water. The proposal for enhanced subsidies has been approved, and the government will finalize decisions after consultations with relevant departments.

Additionally, the state has granted an exemption from Regional Transport Office (RTO) passing requirements for tractor trailers for a period of three to five years. This decision aims to alleviate the challenges farmers face regarding tractor and trailer passing. Vaghani noted that a committee has been established to address farmers’ issues, which includes himself, Energy Minister Rishikesh Patel, Forest Minister Arjun Modhwadia, and other officials.

This panel regularly meets with representatives of the farming community and consults with the Chief Minister. Vaghani stated that the government has consistently adopted a positive approach to resolve farmers’ issues and will continue to do so.

He also mentioned previous decisions, such as granting exemptions from stamp duty for legal heirs in matters related to ancestral property. These decisions were made under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel after consultations with farmer representatives. Vaghani assured that essential decisions for farmers will be made promptly and will continue in the future.
