Gujarat Chief Minister Patel Meets Japanese Ambassador to Discuss Semiconductor Investment

Gandhinagar, May 1: Gujarat‘s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a significant meeting with Japan’s Ambassador to India, Koichi Ono, during the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Surat.

During this meeting, they extensively discussed ways to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation. The Japanese ambassador congratulated Chief Minister Patel on the successful organization of the conference. He reiterated Japan’s commitment to enhancing economic collaboration with Gujarat, particularly in the semiconductor sector, where Japanese companies are eager to partner.

The ambassador expressed the need for government support in establishing supply parks to develop essential industries for the semiconductor sector.

Chief Minister Patel informed the ambassador about the state’s skilled human resources and robust skill ecosystem. He highlighted the excellent infrastructure, noting that the newly inaugurated Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway has reduced travel time to Ahmedabad Airport to just 1.5 hours.

During the meeting, the ambassador shared positive experiences of working with the Gujarat government and expressed eagerness for further collaboration in the future.

Additionally, they discussed new opportunities in bulk drug parks and medical device parks.

Present at the meeting were Chief Secretary M.K. Das, Additional Chief Secretary of the Industries and Mines Department Mamta Verma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjeev Kumar, Additional Principal Secretary Dr. Vikrant Pandey, Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar, and other senior officials from Japan.
