Gujarat Assembly Approves Bill to Curb Illegal Property Transfers

Surat, March 26: The Gujarat Assembly has approved a bill aimed at curbing illegal property transfers. BJP legislator Sangeeta Patil emphasized the necessity of this legislation during a discussion on Thursday. She raised a provocative question: if a Muslim family can feel secure among 500 Hindu families, why can’t a Hindu family feel safe among 500 Muslim families?

In an interview, Patil stated, “The Assembly discussed the property transfer bill. There are still some anti-social elements in society who facilitate file approvals and sell properties. Some individuals rent shops or homes, and later, others follow suit. This leads to entire societies becoming dominated by minority communities.”

She further explained, “I do not oppose anyone, but our Hindu brothers face both physical and mental harassment. Previously, areas like Marutinagar, Padmavatinagar, Buddha Society, Bhavna Park Society, and Ambikanagar had a significant Hindu population. Now, these areas are predominantly occupied by the Muslim community. Only a few Hindu families remain, and many wish to sell their properties due to ongoing harassment. Those who want to leave should be allowed to do so.”

Sangeeta Patil also mentioned, “I pointed out that when a Muslim individual rents a house in a society, it often leads to many more Muslims moving in, creating a pattern. This results in entire neighborhoods becoming dominated by minorities, which should not happen. Therefore, Hindus should sell homes only to other Hindus, and similarly, if Muslims sell to Muslims, we have no objection. However, if a Hindu’s property is purchased by a Muslim, that poses a problem for us. This issue was raised in the Assembly to address our community’s concerns.”
