Panaji, September 26 (Daily Kiran) : The Goa Crime Branch has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking, resulting in the arrest of two individuals, one of whom is a minor. During a recent operation, authorities seized 10.754 kilograms of cannabis, valued at around ₹10.5 lakh.
The operation took place at the inter-state bus terminal in Mapusa, Bardez, from 6:19 PM to 9:25 PM. A team led by Police Inspector Vikas Dekar, along with Assistant Sub-Inspector Shriram Salgaonkar and several constables, conducted the raid targeting illegal substances.
The arrested suspects have been identified as 24-year-old Gokula Jena from Deula, Balasore, Odisha, and a 17-year-old minor from Dagarpara, Bhadrak, Odisha. The police found suspicious items concealed in their shoulder bags and hand trolley, which included parts of flowering plants suspected to contain cannabis.
The drugs, weighing 10.754 kilograms, were confiscated under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. Inspector Vikas Dekar is leading the ongoing investigation, with oversight from Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi and Superintendent of Police Rahul Gupta.
